Cloak allows executable files to be sent by email through firewalls in the following by disguising them as text files. The sender uses Cloak to disguise a file as text. The file is then emailed to a recipient on the other side of the firewall. The recipient uses Cloak to unwrap the "text" file back to the original. Simply renaming a file to txt, can still identify it as an executable, due to it s binary nature. Cloak however replaces all of the non-textual characters within a file with characters from the alphabet, and then breaks up the characters with spaces, full stops and paragraphs to make the file more like a text document. While this process makes the file an extra 75% larger, Cloak files compress well with any zip tool.
